Procedure to opt-in and install my "Timestamp Tracker" 'closed test' app

  • Using Google id associated with your Android phone, join Ravis-AppTesters Google group by clicking 'Join Group' in following link: https://groups.google.com/g/ravis-apptesters.
    • Your email id will be seen only by me, who is group owner. Other members cannot see your email id.
    • There is no activity in this group. It has been created solely for my app testing needs for Google Play Console production app submission.
  • If you are not able to join the group please mail me on riyer02@gmail.com. I will add you to the group.
  • You should be shown something like the following screen (below screenshots are with phone in dark mode; if your phone is in light mode, the background should be white and the most of the text would be in black):

  • You have to click 'Become a tester' button. Then you should be shown something like following screen:

  • Now if you click 'download it on Google Play', it should show you something like following screen:

  • You can then click on 'Install' to install the 'closed test' version app.
You may then use the app when you can spare the time. 

The main point is that you should keep it installed on your phone for 14 consecutive days for you to be counted as a tester by Google. 

Google needs a minimum of 12 such testers before it is willing to start the production review process (where it may ask for more testing and improvement of app before accepting it for production publication).

This is after the 12 testers point has been reached. I wanted to keep the below message I sent (slightly edited) to some friend-testers, for any future similar need.

BTW during this period of 14 days, when convenient please provide 'closed testing' app feedback via Google Play (GP) page for it. That can be accessed in 2 ways:
1) Using the same opt-in link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ravisiyer.timestamptracker
2) App Info of installed app -> App details in store

You have to click on the stars box in page which will open up a screen to provide text feedback as well and a button to post it.
Afterwards the GP page for app will show your feedback.
