Can Puttaparthi (or other rural India) college students/fresh graduates develop web apps like Gita web app by self-learning route?

Last updated on 5th Sept. 2024
I am posing this question in the context of my Gita web app (... see if app link does not work),  which I think is now a regular web user interface app. [Details and screenshots]

I think only very determined and capable college students or fresh graduates who do not have much web development exposure, will be able to follow a self-learning route like the one I followed and which is documented in detail in this blog (https://raviswdev.blogspot.com/). The technology platforms involved - Node.js, React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind and GraphQL - are quite complex. The developer needs to know them as well as the basic technology platforms of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. For a beginner, this list can be very daunting.

I think the best way for such college students or fresh graduates to acquire the skill set to develop a web app like Gita web app, is to go through courses on these technology platforms either in academic environment if that is accessible to them, or in private training institutes like those in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

But what about poor students and fresh graduates, especially from rural India, who cannot afford very costly professional academic institutions offering degrees teaching these skills and also providing campus job placement nor can afford somewhat costly private training institutes in cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore, where job placement possibility is not that sure? I think that the very determined among such poor students and fresh graduates could try following a self-learning route like the one I took and documented in this blog, or self-learning routes published by others. They will know from their trials whether they are able to acquire the skill set through self-learning.

For the path that I followed and documented, an advantage is that a key outcome of that path which is the Gita web app, is shared publicly as open source. So these students/graduates will clearly know what they will be able to do, if they are able to successfully follow the pathway that I followed, even though I had an older technology platform like C++ programming on Windows and Unix OS (not much of web app development) till early 2000s background, from which to start my current technology web app development learning journey.

If they try to follow a self-learning path through this blog and they find it too difficult, they can simply drop it. They won't lose any training fees money and may have the satisfaction of at least having tried.
